He is a Boxer-German Shepard mix and he weighs 42 lbs. We think he's about 2 years old. He was turned into the Lost and Found at the Weld County Humane Society where he stayed for about 6 weeks and then they transferred him to the Dumb Friends League which is where we adopted him. Since he was a lost and found dog, they have no idea of his past or if he has ever lived with a family.
He is pretty timid, but is definitely coming out of his shell the more comfortable he gets at our house. He is really sweet and loves attention. I think he may become more active in time, but so far he is very mellow. There have been a few clues that make us think that he hasn't lived with a family before, he doesn't seem to be house broken, nor has he had any kind of training. He does not know how to sit, but he does come to me when I call him and he does stay when I tell him to. He seems very eager to please, so I think he'll respond very well to training.
I've wanted another dog for some time. We put Kenya down 3 years ago on Halloween and both Michael and I decided that we were ready. I also think having another dog to focus our attention on will make it easier once Woodrow finally decides that he's had enough with this plane. We'll still be really sad, but I think it may help to not have a silent house.
So the other pets are responding pretty well to Sid. Woodrow could care less about who or what is there just as long as there is food, so he's fine. Kasey has been a little leery of Sid, but she's not scared of any dog so she's just avoiding him for now, but it's pretty much business as usual for her. We were most concerned about Maynard since he doesn't react well to dogs that take too much of an interest in him. We figured since Sid was so timid, that he may be a good match for Maynard. When we first brought Sid home we brought him into the back yard and Maynard sat at the back door looking at us. Sid paid no attention to the cat, so I opened the door and Maynard came right out and started walking around the back porch without issue. Here is proof:

Later that night I was sitting in the living room and Sid was at my feet, Maynard came up from the basement albeit slowly, and walked right past Sid and jumped up and hung out on his spot on the couch for the rest of the night. That is very unusual for Maynard, since he hates Lori's dogs and won't even come out of the basement the entire time they are in our house, be it a week or even two. So I think in time, they'll all be fine.
I am excited to get him into a routine and eventually I can start running with him. Michael is hoping that he can be the kind of dog the he can take to work with him. We shall see.....
Oh and we picked the name Sid because we just kept yelling out different names with no reaction from him. When we called out Sid, he slightly looked at us, so we took that as a sign. And the Vicious because it's ironic since he is not even the slightest bit vicious. And it just seems like a bad-ass dog name! (I didn't really care for the Sex Pistols, but I did like the movie Sid and Nancy, and I do have the hots for Gary Oldman, so there's that too.)
