Espana Dia Uno

Unlike our flight home, our flight to Spain was uneventful, thank goodness. Iberia pretty much sucks, so I wouldn't recommend them or fly them again. The legroom was non-existent, the flight crew seemed to be on siesta throughout much of the flight as they were in no hurry to bring drinks or food. And they left the overhead lights on for most of the flight which makes it difficult to sleep, which is pretty much the only thing I am able to do on those long flights.

The Madrid airport was very cool, so that and the fact that we were finally in Spain made up for the flight.
Our first day and evening was spent in Malaga which is on the southern coast of Spain. We went to a cathedral and honestly... once you've seen one cathedral in Europe you've pretty much seen them all. This one was pretty, but not all that special.

And then we went walking around the Alcazaba, which is the old city walls and then finally up to the old castle. The alcazaba was fun because of the Moorish influence everywhere.
And there were some pretty cool views of the city and the Mediterranean.

That night we got our very first experience of jamon y queso. And it was love at first sight.

We saw some interesting art around the main shopping plaza

After dinner we decided to call it night since we had to get a pretty early start the next day. It was during breakfast the next day that we discovered our love of cafe dobles con leche and jamon y queso sandwiches.

It doesn't get any better than that.

After we picked up the rental car we headed out of Malaga and started our trek to Ronda in the Andulusian countryside.
That is where we will pick up on Dia Dos of our Espana adventure. Stay Tuned..
